Enjoy a magnificent day of discovery in the Dominican countryside: sugar cane fields, local ranches, tobacco factories, remote villages, and tropical jungles. We’ll pick you up in our safari truck from your hotel in Bayahibe and begin exploring the Dominican countryside, driving through stunning landscapes before our first stop.
The truck will take you to a batey, a village where sugar cane cutters and their families live. Afterwards, you’ll visit a handcrafted cigar factory, where you’ll witness the skill of the cigar rollers. If you wish, you can taste some of the best cigars in the Dominican Republic. We’ll then continue to the local market in Higüey and its traditional stalls.
The morning ends with a visit to a private plantation located in the highlands of Higüey, in Anamuya, where you'll discover the full variety of nature that the Dominican Republic has to offer.
After lunch, we’ll head to Altos de Chavón, where we’ll board a motorized platform to ride down the river. A stop will be made so you can jump into the river from a vine rope.
On board this barge, we’ll continue our journey to the dam, where the safari truck will be waiting to take us back to Bayahibe.
